Brainstorming: COMMUNITY

The Community programming track focuses on the things that make fandom go:

  • Platforms: Archives, blogs, social media, chat groups (eg slacks and discords)
  • Events: Gift exchanges, challenges, fests, conventions
  • Curation: Recs lists, fan wikis

Please brainstorm in the comments below!

I'd love a discussion panel about fandom on slack and discord.

Modding 101

Got an idea for an exchange or fest that you really want to make happen? Hear from experienced fandom mods on the best way to go about it, and pitfalls to avoid.

How do we rec to one another in 2019? Are people still using Pinboard, does the bookmarks feature of AO3 work as a mechanism for finding recs, do people get their recs from individual fan DWs or recs tumblrs or...? Is Twitter an effective platform for recs? Generally speaking, how do we most easily find recommendations for things to read/watch/etc, and how do we most effectively share recs of our own?
